PRACTICE MANAGER -
Miss Kim O’Donnell looks after the day to day management of the practice supporting the Doctors and the rest of the practice team. She will be pleased to receive any suggestions for improving the services offered. Should you have any comments or complaints then please address them to her and she will give them her attention and reply appropriately.

The receptionists are your first point of contact with the practice and they are there to help you and will endeavour to deal with your enquiries as efficiently as possible. Occasionally, they may need to ask your medical details in order to do so. All the information received is treated in the strictest confidence. All procedures followed by the staff are strictly according to guidelines laid down by the Doctors. Please be patient with our staff who are often working under considerable pressure.

PRACTICE NURSE
There are four Practice Nurses and one Health Care Assistant working in our team, who run an appointment based system Monday to Friday. They work closely with the doctors and, in addition to providing first Aid and general nursing services. They are available to give advice on a variety of health problems. They also offer many different clinics including Well Woman, Well Person, Diabetic, Asthma, Heart Disease Prevention, Travel Advice and Childhood immunisation. Most blood tests are taken by our Health Care Assistant at the Phlebotomy clinic, but we request that this is discussed between you and your doctor beforehand.

The Health Visitors specialise in family health, care of the elderly and child development. Their work involves running clinics within the Health Centre and visiting patients in their own homes. The services include:

DISTRICT NURSING SISTER
The District Nurses provide nursing care in the home for those patients unable to come to the surgery. They are closely involved in the provision of care to terminally ill patients being cared for at home. All nurses can be contacted between 8.00 am and 4.30 pm Monday to Friday on 732034. If you need to contact the District Nurses outwith these times, they can be contacted on 480052, which is a 24 hour answering machine service. There are a number of services the District Nurses can provide. These include:

PRACTICE PHARMACIST
The Practice Pharmacist, Josie Johnston’s main responsibilities are to advise on aspects of prescribing within the practice.

This included reviewing individual patient’s medication, making recommendations on the cost-effectiveness of medicines and other prescribing projects.

Mrs Johnston works with all members of the Primary Care Team and most importantly with the patients.

MACMILLAN NURSING SERVICES
Macmillan Nurses work alongside Doctors, Nurses and other professionals to meet the needs of patients suffering from Cancer. They help the patients and their carers achieve the best possible quality of life. Requests for a Macmillan Nurse should be made via a General Practitioner, District Nurse or other medical professional.
